From the Operator - VRL Travels
VRL Travels was initially a part of VRL Logistics Ltd. group which is leading logistics service provider with roots going back to 1976. Started with just 1 truck in Gadag, Karnataka. VRL group is founded by Dr. Vijay Sankeshwar who holds the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, which was presented to him by the Government of India in 2020 for his contributions to trade, industry, and entrepreneurship.
From the humble beginning, VRL expanded its footprint across Karnataka and eventually developed into a prominent nationwide transport and logistics group. Today VRL Logistics has 6200 Trucks and VRL Bus entity has more than 500 buses operating more than 600 services daily and has over 300 branches on ground.
VRL Bus also called as Vijayanand Travels is currently led by Mr. Shiva Sankeshwar with a vision to become India's first choice for safe, comfortable and reliable bus travel by providing super bus experience. The brand is built around the practical demands of journeys in Indian roads - disciplined operations, service processes, and a focus on resolving traveller concerns with respect.
Built on a long road-transport legacy
VRL grew from North Karnataka into Bangalore, Hubli and Belagavi before building a wider network across the country. The business continues to be led by the Sankeshwar family. Dr Vijay Sankeshwar is VRL Logistics Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Anand Sankeshwar is its Managing Director, and Shiva A. Sankeshwar leads Vijayanand Travels Private Limited, the group's travel business.
Service that goes beyond the seat
VRL places value on respectful, hands-on service. Its service approach extends beyond the booked seat to practical support when a traveller faces an unexpected problem.
Sharing an anecdotal experience of VRL team with their passenger -
"One example shared by the company's chairman Dr. Vijay Sankeshwar in an exclusive podcast with AbhiBus involved a woman whose purse and phone had been stolen. A local team member was sent to identify her, provide emergency assistance and help her reach the airport"
Onboard hygiene is also treated as a service responsibility. They claim to push the experience to an extent where a person is employed specifically to look after the hygiene of the toilets on buses having this feature. The SOP is standardised to cleaning toilets on VRL buses and using freshener as part of the operating process after every traveller uses the washroom. As bus facilities can differ by service, travellers should confirm the amenities listed for the particular bus they select.
What travellers should verify before VRL bus booking
Before booking a VRL bus, confirm the following for your selected service:
- Seat and bus type
- Boarding and dropping points
- Reporting time
- Listed amenities, including whether a toilet is available
- Luggage, cancellation and refund terms
- Contact details for journey support
- Any live tracking option shown in your booking channel
Departure and arrival times can be affected by road, traffic, weather and operational conditions. The materials used for this profile do not publish a universal punctuality guarantee, a standard set of amenities for every bus, or support response times.
